How to Book a Band for a Wedding

A wedding is a cause for celebration. It is also an event that causes the person paying for it to go into a lot of debt. The father of the bride usually pays for the wedding, although this is becoming less common as the recession deepens. While no one needs a band to play at the wedding itself, people expect entertainment at the reception. The person who gets the unenviable task of selecting wedding entertainment has two options. He can hire a disc jockey or book a band. Hiring a disc jockey tends to be cheaper, but hiring a band has a certain charm.

When hiring a band, you need to consider what type of band you want to hire. Most people go for rock bands or bands that perform a combination of rock and country. A band should be able to perform a wide repertoire of music.

When hiring a band, the person paying for the service should not hesitate to ask to hear them perform. Hiring a bad band will cause the couple to never forgive the person who hires the band. At the very least, it will cause the bride to question the musical tastes of her family. A band that does not let you hear them or at least offer a sample tape should be avoided.
